Another cellar in the Edinburgh New Town shot. Probably a good thing I didn’t investigate further.
Some shots taken over the festive period when the school was closed and it had been raining, giving some nice reflective surfaces. (Edinburgh Academy, Henderson Row, Edinburgh, Scotland.)
There’s something about this cellar in the Edinburgh New Town on Dundas Street that catches my eye every time I go by. I think it is just the shape and the textures and nothing more sinister…
Just had a selection of monochrome images selected for publication by the Amateur Photographer Magazine in the Reader Portfolio section of the current edition (4th October). You can buy digital copies online, if that’s your thing.
Here’s one of the selected images.
Just sold a print of this older shot, so here it is again.
The building at the centre with the dome is the former St. Cuthberts Co-operative Society Department Store. Taken looking from The West Port, westwards at the junction of Bread Street and East Fountainbridge. To the right the road continues towards Haymarket, to the left on towards Fountainbridge and eastwards, behind this point of view, towards The Grassmarket.
I will make no mention of the dodgy / sleazy pubs that are behind the photographer here.
